The lighting department
Input on the LED backdrops for the dance numbers.
The goal
Striscia la Notizia is Antonio Ricci's satirical news show, on air since 1988. In 2026, instead of its usual daily slot, the show aired as five weekly prime-time episodes on Canale 5, hosted by Ezio Greggio and Enzo Iacchetti.
Make Striscia's identity recognisable in its move to prime time, with a more elegant look, while keeping the symbols and meanings that have been part of the show since 1988.
The art direction
Alessandro conceived and produced the graphics for the Prime Time edition with the department, with creative autonomy in the concept phase.
- The LED backdrops for the Veline's dance numbers were built together with the choreographer, wardrobe and musical direction to coordinate colours and timing, with input from the lighting department.
- Alessandro personally created several static backdrops.
- The department worked on every on-screen graphic element, animated and static: titles, opening sequence, lower thirds, segments, graphics supporting the formats.
- Generative AI (Higgsfield), used for: parts of the backdrops, comic images supporting the sketches, some elements of the on-screen graphics.
The technical constraint
The studio's curved LED wall: 8064 × 1920 in the centre, 4032 × 1920 on each side.
Working with writers and direction
Alessandro joined the project a few days before the premiere, with an episode to prepare every week.
He presented the proposals in person to the director and to Antonio Ricci for review. At the same time he kept writers and production in sync, last-minute requests included.
Your work as Graphic Art Director was, without a doubt, remarkable and innovative, despite the little time you had to get into the editorial mood of such a historic, well-established show.
